At the start of the corona pandemic we started working at home at the kitchen table. “For as long as you have to”, but soon those few weeks turned into a few months and eventually even more than a year. And we're still not done working from home. We now know all too well that working at a kitchen table is anything but pleasant. Time to create a really nice workplace or make your existing workplace more pleasant!

A place of your own

The basis for a comfortable home workplace is of course the place itself. Whether this is a separate office or a quiet corner in the living room or bedroom, that does not matter. As long as you have your own space and as little distraction as possible. Do you want to demarcate the space a bit from the rest of the space, For example, choose a so-called room divider. You really don't have to spend a lot for this, because also a big one (open or closed) cabinet works perfectly for this!

A good desk and a comfortable office chair

A good desk is also important at your home workplace. Whether this is an official desk or an old dining table, that doesn't matter either. As long as the height is suitable for your height. The right chair also plays a role in this. A real office chair on wheels can be nice, but a regular chair can also work nicely, as long as it is also high or low enough and matches your height and the desk. You have the best working posture when your legs are at a 90° angle, and your arms can also rest on your desk at a 90° angle.

A tidy space

In addition, it really works much better when your workplace is tidy. Make sure to keep as little mess as possible on and around your desk, and use closed containers, organizers and cabinets where you can store as much stuff as possible.

Good lighting and blinds.

Lighting is also essential, especially during dark days in winter. The right basic lighting is not only good for your eyes, but also better for your concentration and productivity. Do you suffer from bright sunlight on sunny days, then ensure good sun protection by means of outdoor blinds or window coverings.

Stylish accessories

Where we said earlier that there should not be too much frills and clutter around your desk, we don't mean that it should be completely bare-bones. A workplace becomes more pleasant when it is stylishly furnished. For example, choose a nice mood light on your desk, a beautiful framed print on the wall, a cozy rug and some beautiful plants. Looks cozy and is good for air quality!
