Home vacation

Home vacation. As far as I'm concerned the word of 2020. Because what we are currently talking about all at home often. Approximately 50% of all Dutch people shine this year (maar) to go on vacation, and the rest celebrates his vacation in-house. And I belong to that 50% who stays at home.

Now I have to say honestly, that we were not travelers anyway, so the sacrifice doesn't feel that big to me. I like to create the holiday feeling at home. Swimming pool in the garden, good food, and occasionally a day out. My summer of 2020 will look something like this, and I'm looking forward to it!

Dakterras

Ever since we live in the city of Groningen at this place, we were aware that we had a large roof terrace with possibilities. A great place, facing south, with a view over the roofs and the city.

Although we had this hotspot, we never actually sat there. The terrace mainly functioned as a dry spot.
We always sat down in our small garden. Until home isolation came and we all sat at home.

I realized that a whole day sitting in the garden downstairs - right next to the trampoline- (where the whole day suddenly NO school age children jumped) was no longer an ideal place. We gasped for peace!

make-over

The upper terrace turned out to be the perfect base and received a makeover for the occasion.

Planks were laid over the old gravel tiles, and the old rotten furniture and the broken fence went into the container. The fence was replaced by a black fence. (You can already buy these boards treated, so that saves painting again! )

And then it was finished…..

A lovely place to relax! Planks on the ground feel so much nicer underfoot than gravel tiles!

But a roof terrace without green is of course a bit bare, so we got a palm tree ,and a few citrus trees in the house. I actually want a lot more green, but I just wait quietly until a nice garden center offer comes along.

Otto lounger

I believe that a project should never be completed too quickly, but that this may also grow safely. We already had a few chairs, and I thought that was fine at first. But it was not yet nice to lie in the sun.

I decided to look for a lounger. Via webshop OTTO found one that was not too expensive. OTTO has a special garden furniture categories where you can also find lounge chairs like this.
