Conservatory metamorphosis from blue to black
Our conservatory. Surely the most beautiful part in the house. Always light (even on dark days!)
When we had the conservatory built, we thought we should give the doors an accent color. All white is so "clean" so we wanted to add a bit more contrast. We chose blue at the time.
The floor tile contains blue, and we thought this was a nice idea to bring this color back to a different place.
but after 8 year it started to itch. The blue paint had faded due to the many hours of sunshine and needed to be replaced. I didn't feel like painting it blue again. Ik wilde wat anders!

I have been styling with black accents in my home for a while now, so black was a very logical step for me. Black is a classic color that fits perfectly with our years 30 home.
Because this is an exterior door, I wanted an extra strong quality paint. Paint that has not discolored again after a year. I wanted a professional paint. Sometimes it's better to spend a little more and have fun longer, then that you after 2 ready to be repainted again for years!

I chose the exterior paint Guarantee System Paint Semi-Gloss. Or half gloss. You currently see a lot of matte paint in interiors as a trend, but I think a little shine has just a little more allure. And especially when it comes to large exterior doors. So I chose ¨Semi-Gloss¨ And then black 0178-06 semi-gloss. And then this paint via this link. This varnish is turpentine based, making it extra suitable for outdoor use. The paint is made in such a way that it does not require primer. This appeals to me, because I always like to see quick results!

TIPS:
First degrease and then sand. If you first sand and then degrease, you rub the grease and dirt over the surface. Of course this should not be the case! Therefore, always degrease first and then sand. It is true that once you have sanded it you will have to lightly wipe off the powder with a (dry) or a very slightly damp cloth.
I lightly sanded the doors. I took a grain of this 240. A heavy grit is really not necessary, This can easily cause deep scratches. After all, the doors only had one 2 had layers of paint so a softer sandpaper was more than enough in this case.
Na 1 layer, the paint was actually opaque enough. To ensure that the paint layer was strong enough, I applied a very thin extra layer the next day.. I was very pleased with the job! The paint covered immediately, and spread wonderfully. All in all I got the job done 5 uurtjes geklaard!
End result
I am extremely happy with the result! The doors have a beautiful deep black color, partly due to the subtle shine.
They really give a chic look to our house. It also contrasts beautifully with the indoor and outdoor plants. Green and black is a perfect combination!
I haven't hung the curtains yet, so that you can see the doors clearly. When the white curtains hang, the result is even more beautiful!
I thought it was great that I could test Anker's paint, and I have now become a fan of this brand because of the easy and quick use. It's always nice to find the right paint for every job!
