The coffee table is a low smaller table, once conceived to complement the seating area. Handy for the drinks, the remote control, or other small items. But nowadays this table is increasingly called a side table, or "coffee table" in English.

This is because the coffee table has gotten a lot smaller over the years. The Coffee table and side tables are actually a bit fused together.

Vroeger

In the past, the salontafel often big, rectangular, and prominently featured in the center of the seating area. But a disadvantage of this was that you could not easily change your interior. In this way, with such a large table, you are fairly attached to your setup. And a little interior enthusiast will not be happy about this! And so there were more and more types and sizes of coffee tables.

The tables kept getting smaller. More and more sets and trio tables also came onto the market.
